Meditation can help you with simple but effective ways that can be used at any time of the day to bring you happiness and inner peace. You can use these strategies at work, at home and even while you are in the middle of something else:
- Take out a few minutes of time to be yourself on a regular basis. During this quiet time, listen to your inner voice, check your intentions and re-evaluate your goals and daily activities.
- Simplify your life! Start eliminating the unnecessary. Also, don't sweat the small stuff!
- Take deep, slow breaths frequently, especially while on the phone, in the car, or waiting for something or someone. Use any opportunity to relax and revitalize yourself.
- Exercise regularly! Stretching your body releases tension.
- Remember, it takes less energy to get an unpleasant task done "right now" than to worry about it all day
- Take time to be with nature, people, music and children. Even in the city, noticing the seasonal changes of the sky or watching people's faces can be a great harmonizer.
- Practice consciously doing one thing at a time, keeping your mind focused on the present. Do whatever you're doing more slowly, more intentionally.
- Choose not to waste your precious present life on guilt about the past of concern for the future. Plan ahead but focus on today and do the best you can now.
