A
large number of people try meditation at some point in their lives. However only a small number of people stick
with it for the long term.
There are a lot of reasons why people stop meditating,
one of these may well be the “I don’t have the time” factor! But as I have mentioned previously, you need
to MAKE the time to reap the rewards from meditation.
Meditation is something that anyone can choose to
do. You need to decide to practice
meditation, and then nothing will stop you.
To begin, you need to select a technique that is
comfortable for you and do it consistently and regularly for some time, every
day. If possible, do it at the same time
every day so that it quickly becomes a habit.
In the modern world, students often become impatient
easily and tend to practice meditation only for brief periods and then give
up. They conclude that there is no value
in it. This is like a child who plants a
seed and is frustrated when there is no growth in a week!
You will definitely experience benefits and see progress
if you meditate regularly. At first, you
may notice progress with immediate physical relaxation and calmness. Later you may notice other benefits such as
good health, happiness and joy.
So remember that just as it takes a while for a seed
to sprout, it also may take a while for you to reap the benefits of meditation,
but they WILL come! Just stick to it.
Remember – we always have enough time for what is
important to us.
