Meditation Made My Life Happy

-->
Meditation made my life happy

26th April 2018

I was a banker, a corporate professional who became a mum, and then decided to stay at home and take care of my daughter. This was also the first time I lived in a foreign country (Singapore) without family support.

It was challenging for me going from being an independent professional to a housewife and mother. I felt stuck because I was unable to work, and my health also started to decline. I even started to suffer from undiagnosed post-natal depression and other health issues after that.

I knew I needed a lot of support and I had read that meditation can make people calm. I had known about meditation and its benefits for more than 30 years, but all I thought meditation was, was to sit down, close your eyes and think of nothing. I could not do that. My mind then was very active and restless.

For many years, I had asked myself if it was possible to meditate without having to sit crossed-legs, being a Buddhist, becoming a vegetarian etc., and so I continued my search for a meditation teacher who could clear my mind, teach me the truth and give me guidance that worked, and I was determined to I find the best.

I eventually found such a teacher - my meditation teacher Vikas Malkani, the founder of SoulCentre in Singapore, Asia’s Premier Personal Development Centre. He is the World’s #1 Wisdom Coach, and he’s such a blessing for my life that I feel grateful everyday waking up, knowing I have found the best of the best to learn from.

At first, I intended to just learn meditation, learn how to tame my racing mind and to feel stronger inside. But after the second session of Meditation Made Simple, I was so impressed by the profound wisdom that Vikas was sharing with us and a simple and fun way that I decided to become a meditation teacher myself. The deep wisdom and simple meditation techniques I had learnt were extremely powerful and changed my life in just a few days, and I wanted to benefit others too with what I had gained from Vikas.

My life has changed completely since I took up meditation and put it into daily practice. Learning meditation with Vikas at SoulCentre was the best decision I have ever made in my life. I become much happier, calmer, stronger inside and a better mother to my daughter. Life became stress-free, clear and filled with wonderful opportunities for happiness and fulfilment that I could not see before meditation.

It took me almost a year to complete my meditation training and get my ‘certified meditation teacher’ qualification. I feel strong and safe knowing that I now have the best weapon to protect myself from whatever life throws at me, wisdom and meditation, and also knowing that I am a part of the SoulCentre family. We always have each other’s back.

I want to share the wisdom of meditation with as many people as possible because meditation will make life easier, happier and clear. The meditation we teach is really simple, easy, fun and best of all, non-religious. If you are searching for a way to control your mind, we are here to show you how to bring out the best in you, to live a happy and joyful life.

Passion is the secret sauce of Success

Passion is the secret sauce of Success

By Vikas Malkani
The Wisdom Coach, Founder of SoulCentre, www.soulcentre.org

28th March 2018

Why do some people become successful while others don’t?
What is it that separates the successful from those who are not?
What is the quality that all successful people have in common?

Everybody wants success. Everyone also wants happiness and a sense of being significant.
All human beings, irrespective of who they are or where they come from, essentially look for two things in their lives – happiness and success. But not all have it and many spend years chasing it. So what is it that successful people have that others don’t?

Success leaves Clues
The successful have one quality in common. And that quality is Passion. A deep passion for what they do. Take a look at any field – business, sports, arts, service or any other. The most successful people in any particular field are the ones that are completely passionate about what they do. They love what they do and that drives them to success.

Passion is the secret sauce of success. Passion brings energy and joy into your actions. Passion is the fuel that keeps everything else moving. Passion is what drives the actions to get the results. The more the passion, the more results you produce.

The Power of Passion
We are all born with passion inside of us. All of us have it but not all of us are able to find it and maximize it. Often we don’t find it because we are not looking in the right place. To truly find your passion, you must get to the root of who you are. We are what we think. And we think either based on our love or our fear. Those are the two elements of our life. All our thoughts come from either love or fear. When you look at the things you love, you find your passion. And that passion leads you to success.

Whenever you are passionate about something you have high energy. You want to do more of it and it is a joy. However, you must understand the difference between passion and a passing desire. A passing desire is something that changes every day, while a passion is something that’s very deep, driving and very stable.

Passion makes discipline, determination and dedication easy. Passion helps us to overcome the challenges and not be defeated by the defeats. All of this further helps us to create the success we desire and deserve.

Find your passion and use it to create your success.

When you really find your passion, it’s not going to change each day. It is consistent and stable. Any action fueled by passion puts you on fire and you want to do it regardless of the consequences, regardless of the results. When you find your passion, you’re doing it for the passion. You’re doing it for yourself. We are born to find our passion and share it with the world. If the world appreciates it, they give you the results you want. But if they don’t, you are still happy doing it. Eventually you find your tribe.

How to find your Passion
To find your passion, every day you must take some time out for yourself. Make sure you have some TOFU every day. TOFU is Time Out For U.

Find time to have a few minutes for yourself and to go within. Look inside yourself to find your passion, not outside. Look within yourself to find authenticity and integrity. Take time out, be silent, and look within. Attend ‘Meditation Made Simple’ at SoulCentre and learn to meditate so you can silence the noisy mind we all have. It is in silence that you find inspiration and your passion. And it is this passion that will drive you to success.

Passion in Action
If you want to see passion in action, check out my award-wining talk from Mega Success USA, an annual convention where the top entrepreneurs and business people from around the world converge to build relationships, learn, network and grow.

I presented to over 2500 delegates from 71 countries, and at the end of the convention, I won a TOP SPEAKER award.

It’s a great testimony that passion creates success and you can watch it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aD04-aifNmM&feature=share

Truly, passion is the secret sauce that empowers a life full of Happiness, Success and Significance!

What is Mindfulness Meditation?

A lot of confusion exists about what meditation and mindfulness really are, is there a difference between them, and what’s their purpose and benefits. So let me take a few minutes of your time and bring some clarity.
 www.soulcentre.org
Meditation is an ancient path that consists of wisdom, techniques and practice, and allows you to manifest the life that you choose. It also empowers you to create a life full of happiness, inner freedom, fulfilment and purpose.

Meditation is thousands of years old, predates the world’s major religions, is scientific and systematic, and has been used by people and cultures across the ages. Unfortunately, as religions become embedded in local populations, this ancient path of living your highest life came to develop a strong religious flavour. The non-religious masters retreated into the background and the religious teachers took centre stage.

Many great individuals used this wisdom, including the young prince Siddhartha Gautama, who later went on to be known as the Buddha, the Awakened one. In his years of teaching, he selected and used a few techniques from this vast science, which continued even after his passing under the label of ‘Buddhist Meditation’. These include vipasana, ana-pana-sati, and more, all of which existed before Buddha, but now came to be packaged differently.

Buddhism spread across the world and eventually found root in the fertile soil of young American minds. A minute number of Americans were eager to try it, but the large population stayed away from participating, because of the strong religious packaging these techniques were presented in.

In 1979, Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn secularized one particular type of Buddhist meditation and renamed it mindfulness. Over the next 30 years, that simple act successfully spread a small part of meditation to thousands of individuals from all fields of life, and into hundreds of hospitals and other medical facilities worldwide.

To summarize, meditation is the whole book on how to live your intended life, with many chapters, and mindfulness is one of the chapters in the book of meditation.

A little more on Mindfulness

In essence, mindfulness is about paying total attention and awareness to something, without judgement. These can include our experience of the present moment, our own bodies, our thoughts and emotions, our unseen assumptions and our conditioned habits of mind and behaviour.

With the hectic lives we lead today, when was the last time you were able to slow down and breathe, much less pay attention to the present moment? I bet it’s been awhile. In fact, on most days you’re probably feeling so overwhelmed, worried and stressed that you’re happy just to make it through another day.

In the past 35 years, meditation in various forms (including mindfulness) has found its way into the mainstream of medicine, health care, and psychology, where it has been broadly applied and continues to be studied through clinical research and neuroscience.

In fact, in recent years, meditation and mindfulness have also begun to move into business environments, sports performance, the armed forces and even astronauts.

Mindfulness is being conscious of what you’re feeling, more intentional about your behaviors, and more attentive to the impact you have on others. Start using mindfulness meditation and you will see benefits such as improved focus, greater control over stress, balanced emotions, stronger immune system, a clear mind and many more…

But don’t just take my word for it. There’s plenty of scientific research that backs up what I am saying, and I am happy to show you how to make the benefits real in your life too!

SoulCentre is Asia’s Premier Personal Development Centre for meditation, mindfulness and stress management.

Life Coaching - How does it help me?

Do you ever feel as if life is simply passing you by and you are not really living the life you dreamed of?
This happens to all of us at some point in time and often it is because we have stopped really focussing on what we want to get out of life. Instead we start to please others and do what is expected of us, fulfilling the multiple roles that we have taken on and end up like a hamster running round and round on a wheel without much thought to where or what we are doing.

So at this moment, as you are reading this blog, I want you to STOP and ask yourself this one question.

What do I want from my life?

Yes YOU – the person reading this
What do YOU want for YOUR life?

For one moment forget your roles, forget your kids, your job, your partner, your dog, your shopping list, your facebook account, your need to be busy… and simply think about YOU!

If you need some help with this question, then give us a call and book a one-on-one life coaching session.

So what is a Life Coach and what will a Life Coach support and guide you on?
  • A life coach is someone who will ask you questions that really make you think.
  • A life coach is someone you can trust.
  • A life coach is someone who will push you just a bit further than you could ever imagine is possible.
  • A life coach will listen to you fully and without interrupting you.
  • A life coach is someone who will hold up a mirror and help you see what limiting beliefs you may be carrying.
  • A life coach will not judge you.
  • A life coach is someone who will see your strengths and start to build on these.
  • A life coach will also support you on any weaker areas, however this will not be their focus – after all your strengths are what will take you higher.
  • A life coach will help you see the patterns of your life and will give you action points to change.
  • A life coach will bring change to your life for the better.
Change is EASY – it begins with one thought, followed by ACTION.
So what are you waiting for?
A fun life awaits you - maximise your potential.

Meditation is an “essential life-skill” for Children

Rashmi, one of SoulCentre’s Meditation Teachers, was recently interviewed and asked a question about meditation for children at SoulCentre. We would like to share her thoughts with you.

"Children are our future leaders. We send our children to schools for academia, to learn sports, languages, essentially with the idea for them to excel in the world.

With stress levels going up in academic performance, an increase in instances of children being bullied and peer pressure, it is even more critical in today’s world for the children to understand the power of thoughts.

Meditation is an essential life-skill as it teaches the science behind the ancient wisdom and gives the tools to empower oneself from within.

We are so focused on the outer world that we forget the need to master the inner world.

Mediation helps build focus and enables the child to see and direct their own thoughts.

Once the children are equipped with the skill of Meditation, they become calmer and happier.

Children are then capable of designing their own blue prints and to go out and lead the world.”

Thanks Rashmi, there truly is no greater gift for a child than being able to manage their thoughts and emotions and thus lead a happy and successful life.
